In the making

Rob Green - ITM Catch Up

We also caught up with Rob Green following his performances on the ITM Presents UK Tour. Known for his powerful live shows and emotionally honest songwriting, Rob has built a reputation for creating music that blends soul, rock, rap and poetry into something deeply personal and engaging.

Working closely with the ITM Presents team and producer Cassell the Beatmaker, Rob has continued to evolve as an independent artist while building a strong and dedicated fan community. In this interview, he reflects on the tour experience, the inspiration behind his music, how Flare Calmer helps him stay focused in busy environments, and what fans can expect from his upcoming debut album.

..............
How did you get involved with ITM Presents, and what does their support mean to you as an artist?
..............

I first connected with Cassell through In The Making, and it instantly felt like I’d found a creative home. ITM Presents came at a time when I was rebuilding my career independently and really wanted to create freely and surround myself with inspiring, supportive people. Their support means freedom; it’s a space where I can bring my full self as an artist and be met with respect, honesty, and expertise. They champion independent artists in a way that’s rare, and it’s helped me grow bolder both on stage and in the studio.

..............
How would you describe your sound or musical style to someone hearing you for the first time?
..............

I blend soul, rock, rap, poetry and acoustic intimacy with big emotional honesty and sometimes a groove you can dance to. Everything is rooted in live performance: harmonies, percussion, and audience connection. It’s heartfelt music you can move to.

..............
We loved seeing you at the Brighton show on the ITM Tour! What is your most memorable moment from the show?
..............

Brighton was special. It was a beautiful way to kick off the tour. Every city was unique and unbelievable in its own way. But the final night in Bristol, hearing a packed-out venue singing Victorious — a song about hope and dreaming big — that was a defining moment. This tour has changed me, but in that moment I really felt the power of everything we’ve been building and the risks it took to get here. That kind of connection with an audience is why I make music.

..............
Who or what inspires your music the most right now?
..............

Right now my biggest inspirations are ancestry, queer becoming, and the idea of stepping into the wild parts of yourself without apology. I’m drawing from history, mythology, dreams, and the freedom I’ve found in performing live this year.

But honestly, the biggest inspiration has been the fanbase. I’ve watched it grow so much, and this year they formed the official EverGreens — a group who’ve come to almost every show, welcomed each other, and made the rooms feel like home. It’s amazing knowing these shows are places where people can turn up as their authentic selves and feel free to sing, dance and connect. They’re on my mind with every song I’ve been putting together for the album.

..............
Performing live can be intense. How do you prepare mentally and physically for a show?
..............

I set the energy before a show — which is kind of like a prayer. I take a quiet moment to give thanks to God, the Universe, and the powers that be for the opportunity to perform.

I also ground myself in the intention: to give love, to welcome new people, to honour the returning ones, and to keep my heart wide open. That short moment focuses me, channels all the pre-show energy the right way, and sets us up for a wonderful performance.

..............
What is your favourite Flare product, and how does it fit into your daily routine as a musician?
..............

I love the Calmer buds. I’m constantly in rehearsal rooms, studios, theatres, or on the road, and they help me manage sensory overwhelm without cutting me off from the world. They keep me focused and grounded so I can protect my ears, my energy, and my creativity — it’s a small thing that makes a big difference in a hectic schedule!

..............
What’s one song of yours that you think best represents who you are as an artist and why?
..............

Jungle Child feels like the truest reflection of me right now. It’s bold, rhythmic, emotional, and a bit untamed. It carries the spirit of everything I’ve stepped into this year — the courage, the honesty, the wildness — and it marks the beginning of the next era of my sound.

..............
What’s next for you? Any other exciting projects or goals on the horizon?
..............

Absolutely. I’m deep into my debut album, which lands in 2026. It’s my most personal, ambitious project yet — a spiritual, emotional and queer journey told through three personas. I’m also planning a UK tour to launch it, with choreography, storytelling, and a full band.

On the theatre side, I’m developing my musical Folklore, and I’m finally working on a way to share my poetry in a bigger way — it’s probably the number-one request at the merch stand, so it’s time!

It’s a busy chapter, but it finally feels like everything is aligning.
