How did you get involved with ITM Presents, and what does their support mean to you as an artist?

I was actually on the first ever round of the ITM course when it started, and their support is really appreciated! It’s so helpful to learn through the osmosis of just looking over someone’s shoulder who’s much more of an expert in what they do than you are and really helped me level up my production at an early stage of my career!

How would you describe your sound or musical style to someone hearing you for the first time? 

..............

I call it ‘Cool-Pop’, as obnoxious as that probably sounds haha. It’s a little more indie and funk influenced than a lot of more mainstream pop, whilst still having a nice sheen to it.

We loved seeing you at the Brighton show on the ITM Tour! What is your most memorable moment from the show?
..............

I loved playing it! My favourite part of the show was just looping round the chords of my song ‘Waves’ whilst describing what it was about. It was only me with an acoustic guitar up there, but I really felt the jazz club vibes whilst I was doing it.

Who or what inspires your music the most right now?  
..............

I’m spending a lot of time between Brighton and London at the minute working on music and playing gigs, so honestly so much of my time is spent in my car just pondering and having passive thoughts drift into my head! I’m having to pull over to hum melodies and lyric ideas into my phone on a pretty regular basis haha!

Performing live can be intense. How do you prepare mentally and physically for a show?  
..............

For sure, it’s something I’ve really struggled with over the years as I really built it up as this momentous thing. It’s funny though, the third run-through of a set in a rehearsal I could probably do with my eyes closed and feel absolutely no pressure so I honestly don’t even think about performing in the lead up to a show until I walk on stage and I take it how it comes!

What is your favourite Flare product, and how does it fit into your daily routine as a musician?

I’m always listening to music when I’m out and about and travelling, so my Flare Studio headphones are absolute go-to's at the moment! The quality’s just great and I can’t even feel them in my ears which is lovely too.

What’s one song of yours that you think best represents who you are as an artist and why?       
..............

Right now, I’d say ‘Drive’. It summarises my sound at the minute and as I said, I’m in the car a lot at the minute! I made the whole track in my bedroom too, so that was a cool experience.

What’s next for you? Any other exciting projects or goals on the horizon? 
..............

Honestly, I’ve put out 6 tracks this year and played a handful of shows. My only goal this year was to have fun and it seems to have worked really well this year, so I reckon I’m just going to go for that again! I’ve just taken on a studio so I’m hoping to level up the music again next year too.
