Flare® Studio IEM

Flare® Studio is our hardwired IEM that features our patented Mirror Image Sound Technology that improves how soundwaves are reflected inside IEMs to increase sound quality. This model is equipped with both USB-C and 3.5mm jack connectivity.

Our unique IEMs have been designed to minimise adding any additional resonances which in turn improves the listening experience and enables a deeper connection to the music.

Music is created by thousands of sound resonances. Every voice, instrument and nuance in music has been formed by soundwaves reflecting inside different spaces. This is what makes music so captivating and enjoyable to listen to. The issue is that traditional IEMs also resonate and add to this resonance, damaging the original source resonances.

Flare Studio is for anyone who wants to experience more immersive sound, higher levels of sound quality and reveal more detail in music without the additional distortions other IEMs produce.

Mirror Image Sound Technology features two angled, flat surfaces that reflect soundwaves with complete accuracy into the ears. This enables sound information to reflect accurately inside the IEM whilst minimising additional IEM-based resonances.

We developed Mirror Image Sound Technology following two decades of research in sound and hearing. Mirror Image Sound technology uses a unique particle approach to sound design. By understanding how each particle vibrates inside an IEM it allowed us to understand, at a fundamental level, how to reduce IEM-based resonances.

Every Flare Studio IEM is manufactured, assembled and tested at Flare HQ in Lancing, England by Flare engineers.

What Is Mirror Image Sound?

Music is created by thousands of sound resonances. Every voice, instrument and nuance in music has been formed by soundwaves reflecting and resonating inside different spaces. This is what makes music so captivating, enjoyable and identifiable. IEMs are also designed to resonate to create their own unique sound signature, but this damages the original source material, distorting detail. We believe music should be experienced exactly as the artist intended.

Mirror Image Sound Technology features 2 angled, flat surfaces that reflect soundwaves with complete accuracy. This enables the IEMs driver to be positioned in the perfect place so that sound information enters the ears without any additional resonances from the IEM enclosure.

For producers and audio engineers

Flare Studio is more than just a listening device - it’s a precision tool. Designed to deliver pure, uncoloured sound with zero audible distortion across all frequencies, it gives you an honest reference point for mixing, mastering, and detailed critical listening.

With Flare’s Mirror Image Sound technology, you can identify subtle nuances, phase issues, and sonic imperfections that conventional monitors or headphones might mask. Whether you’re in the studio or working remotely, Flare Studio provides the kind of sonic transparency and accuracy that empowers better creative decisions and sharper production results. It’s like having a microscope for your music.

Why Flare Studio Will Change How You Hear Music

  • Flare’s patented breakthrough technology eliminates resonance inside the human ear, delivering an unmatched listening experience.

  • Flare Studio IEMs elevate your ability to hear detail and depth beyond natural limitations.

  • Feel the bass, embrace the highs, and hear everything in between with unmatched accuracy.

  • Even tracks you’ve heard a thousand times will reveal new layers of sound.

  • Designed to sit seamlessly in your ear for total comfort and acoustic precision.

  • Every Flare Studio IEM is crafted with obsessive attention to detail.

  • Flare’s cutting-edge 3D printing process slashes CO2 emissions and eliminates waste, unlike traditional injection moulding.

“The human ear naturally creates resonance, possibly a survival trait from ancient times. But in music, that resonance pollutes sound and has a detrimental effect on the sound we hear. We’ve solved that problem by addressing how sound enters the ear, resulting in breathtaking audio. Now, the journey from bold concept to revolutionary reality is complete, and the result is truly game-changing.”

Flare® Studio IEM FAQs

  • Memory foam tips generally last about 1 month depending on how they are handled, used, and your body chemistry (earwax, oils, etc.). Naturally, frequent use will shorten their lifespan.

To ensure that your tips last as long as possible, we would recommend that you follow our fitting guides and cleaning instructions.

It is important that memory foam tips are regularly inspected for serviceability and are maintained in accordance with our instructions. Be sure to replace your tips when they start to flake, tear, or lose their memory foam properties (e.g. the foam loses its slow rebound time).

Amazing in ear phones!

I was undecided on purchasing these for such a long time that now I have them I feel stupid for not getting them earlier. My previous pair were around £30-40 mark but pretty old and I can't remember the brand. I use a HiBy R5 DAP exclusively ATM. These just blew me away. Using the audiophile tips which shape themselves to your ear they are very comfortable even for long stints of listening. I didn't think that bass this good was possible with in ear phones. I'm enjoying music that I have listened to a hundred times before, picking up sounds that I never knew were there. I may well get the even better ones (Pro or Master?) at some point.

The headphone and case is great, unlike the adapter

The headphones and the case are excellent — I’ve been a fan for a long time and have always been completely satisfied with the sound quality. The included USB-C adapter looks elegant, and I was genuinely happy to see it included.

However, when using it with my iPhone 15 Pro, the sound is heavily overdriven regardless of the volume level. Using the Apple adapter, on the other hand, works perfectly. This might be something worth looking into: including a Flare adapter with the earbuds is a great idea, but it should function properly. At the moment, I’m unfortunately unable to use it.

Wow!

I’ve been listening to these every day since I received them. They are fabulous. The detail, the separation and the soundstage are maybe the best I’ve heard - even in headphones 3, 4 or 5 times the price.

Noticeable audio improvements would be my summary.

At this price point u can't go wrong

At this price point u can't go wrong. Please select the right tip for your ears this makes a massive difference to the sound quality. Sound is dynamic very efficient had to turn down by 15 percent to have same level as my old iem. Cable is very flexible which is good. The overall product is outstanding.
I want to give it 4.5 stars

Ad got me; glad I ordered a pair

With my AirPod Pros giving up the ghost after 5 years, was in the market for a new pair of headphones and was looking to go back to a wired set for longer flights. For $99; these aren’t a question of being 5x more than Apple EarPods, yet in my book, $100-$150 savings off of AirPod Pros (amongst other competitors).

$19.99 EarPods get the job done. These Flare Studios are just that, studio sound in your ears. I’m no audiophile (I use the silicone tips), yet I’m hearing bits and pieces (especially from live recordings) that I’ve never heard before. One note of that: Andre Rieu's live recording of "Dancing on the Stars" with Emma Kok. At the conclusion, you can hear him gently say, "That was beautiful, Emma", whereas before, it was almost indistinguishable sound. These Studio earphones make listening to live recordings a pleasure.

Highly recommend these.

Note: Your mileage may vary. Audiophile tips…couldn’t get comfy. Thankful that they sent silicone ones too. Those are working well.

Sound great but broke in 5 months

Sound great but broke in 5 months. Total headache to get support and eventually gave up. Honesty my 20 quid moondrops are just as good in terms of sound quality, if a bit less loud.

Great sound, but uncomfortable

I use Flare tech everyday between Calmer (and various associated accessories) and IEMs, and absolutely LOVED Flare jets, but when I couldn't replace my jets I picked up these instead. The sound quality is really good; There's an excellent sense of space to the sound when these are positioned correctly, which is wonderful for when I'm developing soundscapes for virtual worlds, although it is otherwise on par with jets in terms of frequency range and clarity. However, I'm personally finding them quite uncomfortable; I can't wear them for more than two hours without getting dents on the inside of my ears. Swapping out the tips that came with them for the old jet ones helped a little bit. I'll keep trying out different size tips, because it might simple as that, but I'm a little disappointed so far.

Studio earphones

The sound quality is truly excellent. The wire is perfect and doesn't get tangled irreversibly. I bought them recently, so I don't know yet, but I'm confident they'll be sturdy and long-lasting. I've also received great support and kindness from customer service. Truly super professional.

Kind of happy...

I’m happy with my purchase, but does it normally come with a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter? I didn’t receive one.

Detailed Production

Being a fan of music that has very detailed production I was keen to hear whether these earphones would affect how I heard my favourite tracks. I am pleased to say that these really helped me to hear new details in music that I have listened to numerous times before. Hearing the way that the instruments are placed in the stereo mix with no distortion has helped me to appreciate my well loved favourities in a different way. A great product.

Pretty good, with quibbles

The sound quality is very good. It's been quite a while since I owned top quality wired rather than bluetooth earphones so I can't do a direct comparison; these feel comparable rather than a technological leap.

They lose a couple of stars for:

- being wired, they suffer what seems to be the inevitable problem of the electrical sound of the cable brushing against your clothing etc. These are really not suitable for on-the-move listening, they are only for static, seated listening.
- it's very hard pushing on the ear pieces, they physically cannot go on as far as the instructions tell you they must go on, and get severely deformed trying (my son had the same experience with his)

I was also going to deduct a star for the terrible shipping service—16 days for a short hop across the Irish Sea!—but that would be too much, these are not 2-star earphones. But they're not 5-star either.

I’m an avid high rez music guy

I’m an avid high rez music guy. Been with TIDAL since they began. I run all my music through DAC’s. After picking the correct size ear tips and hooking up my phone, the music was sensational. Flare has hit a home run with these. I highly recommend them!

Very satisfied with the quality of the sound

Very satisfied with the quality of the sound. No distorsions. Very clear sound lets you listen to details that you havent motives before that sete there.

Brilliant detailed sound

I am pushing seventy and have the typical age-related hearing degradation: loss of high frequencies, noise or muddiness in the mid-range frequencies, and overall lack of detail. Imagine my surprise when I first listened to these Flare Studio earphones! I am hearing details in my favorite tracks that I have not heard in years. The clarity of these is truly brilliant. I can once again easily separate out and focus on the individual instruments and voices, or just revel in the overall presentation. Well done, Flare Audio!

These are special.

These are special. I own many IEMs of all types. up to $200. My preference are for single dynamic drivers. Music wise: Soul, R&B, Latin & acoustic are my favourites genre. What sets these iem apart from their competitors in my opinion is the fit. & sound of course. This product appears to be designed around the human ear first; Not usually the priority for most products in this market. To me the studios are a wearable with audio excellence. If the fit is not optimal: it does not matter how good the marketing or technology is.
The sound is terrific. Maybe studio does not reflect the experience. Yes they can do this but the music is very enjoyable . The bass is a highlight . Not flat at all. It is very engaging all round.
The design/ manufacture is very good too. Very modern & chic in a way with the 3D printing & z shape. Even the tips supplied are premium. Infact I have just ordered some more of these for may other IEMs. They are so good.
Even the packaging/ case is first rate.
Flare do offer something different for everyone.

Amazing sound

These earphones are amazing!!! The sound is clear and crisp. They block out sound perfectly. So much better than any other (wired or Bluetooth) that I’ve tried. I love the foam tips they come with.

OMG - my favourite music just got an upgrade!

I kinda like music, normally using V Moda headphones for some self indulgence. Beats for sport, and the ubiquitous iPods for travel and work. But, wow Flare studio, the music has somehow been cleaned and enhanced? The definition of all the levels, notes, and the difference trying both Flare studio and iPods simultaneously was quite dramatic. Great job Flare 👏🙌

Almost good

1. These are Not comfortable to wear at all.
2. If they slip out just a tiny bit the sound changes (not surprisingly) which makes them not useful for a professional application.
3. The lack of adapters for both USBC and 1/4” is really terrible, and makes them mostly useless without these.
4. There are almost no TRRS to 1/4” TRS adapters to be found anywhere.
5. The included cable is way too short for any kind of use other than a cellphone in a breast pocket. That was not my need or intent. With a name like “Studio” one would expect to be able to use them in a professional environment.
6. There is no clip or strain relief for the cable, causing undue stress on the ear to hold in place.
7. When in. your ear just right, they do sound good. but all the rest just kills them for me.
8. The return policy is terrible, the buyer is required to provide return shipping which from US to UK is really expensive, almost ½ my refund will just cover the shipping.

Really pro sound

No matter if you dj or simple music listener, through these headphones you will hear sound as it should be playing, no distortion only HiFi.

I hear things I did not know were there

My 79 year old ears are now hearing music detail that I was unaware was present on the recording. I listen to 24 bit high sample rate files. Awesome.

Unbeatable at this price

I decided to give them a try after having used the Calmers for quite some time as I’ve always thought that there’s something missing with my other in ear pods, some of which have been more expensive. I’ve had them just over a week now and tried them in all of my usual applications; it’s like a different world, full range and well balanced sounds. I found the tips a bit awkward at first because they are more or less parallel sides instead of the usual dome shape but they are pretty compliant so it was just a matter to get used to them. All in all I am over the moon with them and looking forward to using them for everything I use EarPods for!

Yet another upgrade on the Mirror Image Sound line

I've been drawn into this line of IEMs since the e-prototype and have had every model in this line since. The Studios are the latest generation of this line and yet again, Flare have managed to improve the sound. My music has never sounded so accurate, detailed and not distorted. I'm picking up new details in music that I've listened to for decades and I'm falling in love with my favourite tracks all over again.

Instrument separation is fantastic and live music makes me feel like I'm actually there.

For anyone new to this line, because the music out of these are so different from any other IEM you will have probably tried, you need to give it time to get used to them. I made a kneejerk reaction on my first listen to the e-prototype and thought the presentation was bad. It was only on a second chance purchase of them, that I gave them time and realised it was just that I wasn't used to the cleaner presentation.

I can now listen to tracks that I was once treble sensitive to and I could listen all day to them without getting fatiguing or have them become uncomfortable.

I'd definately recommend a purchase, but please be patient with them!

Studio vs E-Prototype

Long-time e-prototype user here. I'm using them primarily for music production and, most importantly, with my in-ear monitor on stage. I have just received the Studio, and I was a bit confused with the pricing since I have paid way more for the e-prototype, while the technology looks the same. The Studio looks way more like a finished product compared to the e-prototype. Sound-wise, the Studio sounds a bit more analogue, while the e-prototype sounds more aggressive and bright. It's akin to the distinction between a Class D bass amp and one with a tube preamp and a transistor power stage. I need to try using them both as a mixing earphone to figure out which one is more "natural". Maybe Flare people can explain the sound(and price) difference. Long story short, they both sound awesome!

Just amazing sound!

I received my new Flare Studio in ear's today and they are just fabulous.
The sound is balanced and full. I can hear the music properly. It's so refreshing after trying and failing to find wireless earbuds that actually work properly. Go wired and go Flare is my advice! Their helpline is also actually helpful. A great British product too.

Our Story

The very first Flare products came to life at our first Flare HQ – a garage in our founders garden. As a small team of three we designed and built our first loudspeakers and provided PA for gigs and festivals.

It wasn’t long before we ran out of space...
